If I'm honest, I need the trainers more than I need a new dress, but you all know what I'm like with dresses....and I haven't bought a new one for ages......
Ok I wont be much help here but firstly that dress is divine I love that colour, it would look great against your complexion. The Asics what can I say they make the comfiest trainers!! Toss a coin see which one you can buy first :) Told you I wouldnt be of much help!
I'd *want* to buy the dress, but end up buying the shoes. I'm enclined to buy the things I *need*, rather than *want*, even though in that case, the need is more expensive than the want (at least, I assume... haven't clicked through!).
Hey dude!! I would personally open a TopShop store card account, get the dress for nothing and pay it off next month and close the credit account and buy the trainers. That way you can have both!
Maybe do a cost per wear calculation and see which one you will get the most mileage out of (am thinking trainers!) but then again, I'd get both if I were you! That dress colour is gorgeous - perfect for spring!
Plus it's the credit crunch, it's almost national duty to spend our way out of this recession!;o)
Purple is the new black as everyone keeps telling me. Buy both but never wear them together :p I like Watching and Weighing's idea of opening an account - very clever.
Regularly replacing your running shoes is a necessity and is like buying toothpaste or toilet paper :) So there is no comparison!
Consequently on the discretionary purchase side you should get the pretty dress, because you have no choice with the shoes if you have run over 800 odd km because you will get injured and then not be able to run!

Like Ellie said, if you need the shoes and don't get them, you run the risk of injury. Not to mention physio bills etc that will prolly work out to more than the dress!
Ha, ha, which item do you really want Phil! I love the dress, I just went and bought myself a new dress today... :p I really need new runners too but never get around to actually shopping for them! You could always buy one of the items and then lay-by the other one, then you can have both and not feel too guily about buying both outright!
Ok I just looked at the links you had posted and the sale price on the runners is pretty hard to pass up, maybe buy them and layby the dress? Layby can be such a pain because I just want the item now!
Hi Phil, I think getting the top shop store card is the way to go. If I have to choose one, I think the runners are the way to go - I don't want you running in your dodgy shoes any longer! :)
Can we see a photo of you in your dress AND runners?! HA! x
You've got your whole life to buy new dresses, but how many times will you be training for and running a half marathon?
I'm in training for the Perth one (end of June) and I bought the most fantastic pair of shoes two weeks ago - ran 45km in them last week and they are worth every cent!
That dress is gorgeous, hope you get both now! I have to ask (being an un-travelled Aussie), what's topshop? Is it like Jeans West or something? I'm also glad I found you in blog-land again :o)
How old did you say your "old" runners are?????????
The shoes!!!!!!!! (this week/month)
The dress is way funky. Perhaps you could layby it or get it next week/month!!!!!!!! Or take your man shopping - when he sees how hot you are in the dress, he might take pity & get it for you :0) Cheeky??? Much!!!!
Hi Phil!! I found you via Jo's website "Creating Wellness". Great to see you are back blogging. I like your positive outlook on weight loss and well done you for maintaining for three years now.
Oh be good to yourself - buy both.... the fact that you have even had this moral dilemma means you are a good person... every time you pound the pavement in the shoes you can think of how cute that dress will be and therefor the cost per wear, negative. Also the dress, with tights, without, with leggings, with jeans, with belt, with scarf... etc.
You can tell I am able to justify most things I want...
Well, as a self confessed shoe addict, it would have to be the shoes, whether I needed them or not......(she says looking into her shoe cupboard and counting 10 pairs!!)
As everyone else has said, if your current shoes are worn out you could do any amount of damage to your legs, and not being able to run is just the pits!!
I do love the dress too though, and purple is my favourite colour!

This changes everything!!! Of course, you know it won't just be the purple dress that I get. That's the danger.

I agree - get both and help our ailing economy. It would be selfish not to!
ReplyDeleteThe dress!
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect fot the amazing summer that is going to occur this year.
You'll end up buying the trainers eventually.
But will the dress still be around in a few months!?!

ReplyDeleteIm coming to the UK in June to see my lovely husbands family, and TopShop will be one of my first stops!
ReplyDeleteSo I say the dress. AND the shoes.
Go for gold, girl.
Loving reading your blog again, and loving your heathly, unprocessed, organic, whole-food, REAL FOOD approach to eating.
YAY for finding Phil again on a blog.
xo
Shoes definately! You'll love yourself for it!
