my new [fill in the blank]

Hope you're all having a top day/night!

Guess what? I did something very out of character last weekend.

Let's set the scene for you. Phil is presented with three options:

1. Get new dress which is on sale at happie loves it. Not only does it have green in it, but it has OWLS on it.

2. Get new runners, which are quite desperately needed if Phil is going to train for more long distance races. NB: I hear this week (I think) if I got a London Marathon 2011 ballot place. As the wedding and all its associated madness took over my life for the last four months, I've barely thought about the marathon and, in my life and experience, it will be sod's law that now I don't care if I get in or not, I will get in!  So I figured I'd better get back up to marathon standards...ish!

3. Get new knee high boots, quite desperately needed also. Would also go nicely with Option 1.

What did Phil choose?!

Make your guess, no peeking!

Ok....

I got new runners!! Howzat?!  Asics Gel 1150s!  I was also finally fitted properly and had to get a men's size...but we won't talk about that.  No matter what my body does it seems my feet will always be plus size!! :P

I can't wait to try them out!  Unfortunately I got super bad blisters wearing my wedding shoes to a birthday party on the same night...we're talking great big bleeding peeling mofos.  I could barely walk let alone run!  It's been all yoga and 30DS this last week (which I can do barefoot..kind of!).  Luckily I can wear flip-flops to work too.  But now my heels seem to be a lot better and I've been able to wear closed shoes again, so my first run with my new bad boys will hopefully be tomorrow! Yay!

How are you all going? :)

  1. Glad I'm not the only one with giant feet, mine are size 8 and very wide! Love the dress though, the owls are so cute!

  3. 1. That is indeed the coolest dress ever. You should meal plan for rice and beans the next two weeks and just buy the damn thing, it's so cute.

    2. I may get my ass kicked for saying this but: nobody NEEDS, much less desperately, knee high boots. HOWEVER, they are highly recommended to go with that dress. Particularly in the winter.

So maybe add ramen noodles to that meal plan.

    Anyway.

Congrats on the running shoes! I can't wait to hear all about your training.

I was procrastinating at work last week and I was looking through a bunch of your archives. I got so inspired....I've lost a total of 8 lbs in the last four weeks and I'm still full of motivation. Thanks for keeping this site going and helping!

  4. I was hoping you'd gone for all three!

Personally I love the light in background of your "shoes shot"

One can only wonder what position you were in for that! ;o)

  5. You don't miss much do you Ali?!

The carpet was a mess and I couldn't be arsed vacuuming just for a photo, so I did what any yogini would do! Half boat pose, on the couch! :P

  7. I just got the same shoes! they are awesome, however they are getting a very limited workout at the moment as I injured myself and haven't been able to run for weeks...once physio takes effect I am looking forward to giving them more of a workout!

Good luck with the ballot! fingers crossed for you.

  8. Good luck with the marathon ballot. I hope you get a spot!

And well done for getting new running shoes rather than the dress...it would have been a tough decision!

  10. Thank you everybody ♥

I'm quaking in my boots a little about the London marathon - the truth is I completely forgot about it! I will be happy either way, because either I will be seriously training with a big goal at the end, or I'll get back into training and do another half in the next six months.

I have decided that Option 3 will be my reward for getting back into running! I'm going to get back to my long runs, and when I've done another 10 miler (which, with consistent training should be doable in about a month and a bit)then I can have the new boots! If I haven't done a 10 miler, I don't get them - simple!

    :)

  16. Hi Phil, just came across your blog and love it already! Will definitely be following along.

I'd have gone with new runners too, I got stupidly excited when I bought my new pair. I do *heart* that dress though!

  17. Hurrump! Oversized feet bite the big one. My size 10's will always remind me of that - lol.. Luckily we can buy super cool sneakers that make us walk / run fast..

And I clicked on that site - what a fantastic range of clothes they have. All too small for me (for now) but have bookmarked it for future purchasing :)
