superethique: green plant love
Today is my day over at Superéthique and I've written all about the virtues of house plants. It's wonderful to finally have a home where plants thrive instead of wither and die within a week, like my old flat! In addition to my phalaenopsis and hyacinth, I'm also trying to grow parsley, pumpkin and leek seedlings on my kitchen window sill, for transplantation into the outdoor garden when they're big enough. The kitchen is going to be propagation central :)
But overall I love having plants around, and having a piece of nature indoors. If your plant is doing well then that usually means the environment you're living in is pretty healthy - what is good for them is good for you too!
And UK readers, there's a chance for you to win your own house plant too, thanks to Me and My Plant. Hop on over to Superéthique and check it out!
Do you have any house plants? What are your favourites?
Have a great Wednesday! xx

I love spider plants- because they are the only plant that does not die from me over-watering it (!) plus they keep on producing new babies so I keep getting new plants. They are so good for the air- I have a couple in my classroom too because the computers etc make the air worse- the plants help to balance it out.
ReplyDeleteI've heard spider plants are great! I might get Peter one for company once Hyacinth has finished blooming for the year :P x
DeleteThe lucky bamboo on my desk at work is the only plant I've ever kept alive! Larry's been going strong for nearly 3 years!
ReplyDeleteI discovered my black thumb early, after managing to kill my entire childhood cactus collection. It's not meant to be easy to kill a cactus!
As for outside... well I'd love a vegie garden but have a snail phobia (if I get too close to one I have a full-blown panic attack!).
Guess I'm just not meant to be a plant person ;)
I had a childhood cactus collection too....which I also managed to kill. Being a plant person hasn't come naturally to me, I've just read a lot of books and learned with trial and error. Mostly error! But Peter is still alive after nearly a month, that's an achievement! ;)
DeleteI am a murderer of house plants.
ReplyDeleteMy housemate bought home a lovely bunch of camellias. They were still alive and fresh after a week. I took another look at them, and they were fake. Good ones, though.
But I love that orchid you have!
And that you call a plant Peter. Peter Plant.
Love your work. Love YOU!
2 months minus 1 day till M-day.
Very meaningful post and I liked the articles as well! While I was in my hometown, our garden was my most loved place after my room :-)
ReplyDeleteI loved working on our garden; we have about 12 different colors of roses. Also there is Hibiscus, Jasmine and a lot of other colorful flowers! There were others shrubs and plants too. Watering them and being amidst this (mini) nature was something I looked forward to, every day! Lovely colors amidst the abundance of greenery is sure to lift anybody's mood. Ditto, even if they are indoor plants :-)
