It's been an interesting but incredibly fun journey and while at times I've questioned my sanity, running has been a wonderful way of improving my confidence - I went from running 5k in a triathlon, to a half marathon, back to 10ks, and then to a full marathon! Running remains my favourite way to stay fit but also the best way to chase those mental cobwebs away. If I'm ever feeling out of sorts, going for a run - even a very short one - is the best way to feel normal again.
I've been blogging for seven years so I've built up a bit of an archive in that time (!) so if you're a new reader you may have missed some of my favourite SLSB posts about running....so I thought I'd do a little round-up! Enjoy :)

do you remember the first time? or, how I hated running at first and then quite enjoyed it (May 2011)

ReplyDeleteJo
Thanks Jo! I have a soft spot for the grumpy run! Tom always laughs at the "grumble grumble" bits ;)
DeleteI have signed up to my first half marathon (WHAT THE FUCK HAVE I DONE!) having only previously completed a 5K charity run. Dear lord. I'll have to make this weekend reading and pick up some tips ;) xx
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for you, there's nothing like your first long distance race!! I'm sure you'll do it with no worries - I had only done 5ks before I signed up for my first half. It was doing 11k one wet summer evening when I was in a foul mood and decided to see how long I could last that made me think a half wasn't a completely stupid idea....and look what happened :D x
